After receiving the "Young Solist of the Year Award 2002", Ernst Simon recorded his debut CD with works by Schubert and Schumann for the SIMAX label. His recording received excellent reviews both in Norway and abroad.
"Although Ernst Simon Glaser is playing on a modern cello, he nevertheless has adopted a tastefully Classical delivery of the well-known melodies in an altogether stylish approach. Impeccable intonation and an instinctive sense of phrasing plays no small part in making this a testament to the pedagogy of his teacher Ralph Kirshbaum." Joanne Talbot Ð The Strad. February 2005
As a chamber musician and soloist Ernst Simon has played with most of the Norwegian Orchestras and in several Scandinavian and european countries in addition to Canada, Israel and China.
He was awarded the Biannual Friends of Music Society "Debut Prize" in 2004 and has worked with some outstanding musicians and conductors including Shlomo Mintz, Maestro Rolf Gupta, Maestro Olaf Henzold, Leif Ove Andsnes, Maestro Omer Wellber, Hagai Shaham, Sveinung Bjelland and Håvard Gimse. The Jury's explanation was:
"Ernst Simon Glaser has at a young age achieved professional results beyond that which could be expected. He has significant experience as a performer in international arenas, and as a soloist, ensemble and orchestral musician he is one of our foremost exponents of his instrument. His interpretations are distinguished by stylistic breadth, bold expression, and temperament."
